It's Not God's Will That

Any Should Perish

Itís Not Godís Will That Any Should Perish

First I think we need to start off with the understanding that:

1) God DID NOT create hell for man.

Matthew 25:41 - Then He will say to those at His left hand, Begone from Me, you cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels!

2 Peter 2:4 - For God did not even spare angels that sinned, but cast them into hell, delivering them to be kept there in pits of gloom till the judgment and their doom.

Jude 1:6 - And angels who did not keep their own first place of power but abandoned their proper dwelling placeóthese He has reserved in custody in eternal chains under the thick gloom of utter darkness until the judgment and doom of the great day.

2) Itís NOT Godís will that any should perish but that ALL should come to salvation through Christ.

3) Man has free will to choose which path he wants to walk on. The path to life & life everlasting or the path to hell.

John 5:24 - Jesus said "He that heareth My word, and believeth on Him that sent Me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life."

Hell is real. There are people who by refusing to accept Christ will be spending eternity in hell suffering. But that was never Godís will for their life. That is by their own choosing & what an incredibly sad choice it is.

God in His awesome goodness gave us a "get out of jail free pass". Itís the free gift of salvation through the shed blood of Jesus Christ. It is so incredibly beautiful & simple.

Ephesians 2:8-10 - For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; not as a result of works, so that no one may boast. For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand so that we would walk in them.

John 3:17 - God sent not His Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through Him might be saved.

John 14:6 - Jesus said "I am the way, the truth, and the life; no man cometh unto the Father, but by Me."

Romans 10:13 - Whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.

God is mad about you, not mad at you. God loves us so much that while we were yet sinners Christ died for us. We didnít have to "get right" first, we just come as we are.

Iíll say something that may shock of few of you. God loved Hilter, Hilter was His child. Jesus died on the cross for Hilter to be saved. Did Hilter choose the path of Life, no. But it doesnít change the fact that God loved him. Now understand that just because God loves us does not mean He approves of our bad behavior. God can not & will not look upon sin & bless it. You can do something really stupid & God still loves you. You can have a child that does something shockingly bad or stupid & it doesnít change the fact that you still love them. You can look at them & ask "Have you taken absolute leave of your senses? Didnít I raise you better?" but you still see the good in them & love them. It doesnít change your unconditional love for them. This is part of our free will, our freedom to make right choices or stupid, bad, wrong choices.

Iíve had people ask me what about people in the Amazon that have never had someone to share the gospel with them? They assume that the person will die & go to hell. Now that does not make sense to me. If we know that God is a good God & itís not His will that any should perish but that all should come to salvation through Christ & that Christ himself after He died on the cross spent 3 days in hell witnessing to the souls there. Hell was not created for us to begin with. So I do believe that God will give each individual an opportunity to choose Christ. How He goes about that for each person we may never know. There are some mysteries we will not understand until we reach heaven. But God is a fair God & we know He wonít send someone to hell because they never heard the gospel. In fact one of the most exciting things we are seeing right now is a large, growing number of Muslims that are having encounters with Christ in their sleep in dreams & then coming to salvation. These new believers have a fire, passion & fearlessness to witness for Christ because of their personal encounter & because being raised as a Muslim they were trained up to be martyrs. They are now bold warriors for God.

Now if we want to settle it once & for all that itís not Godís desire for anyone to spend eternity in hell look at what Jesus himself said.

Luke 9:56 - For the Son of Man did not come to destroy menís lives, but to save them from the penalty of eternal death.

Now Iíve heard it taught that an unbelieving spouse married to a believer is saved based on I Corinthians 7:13-14 but that doesnít line up with any other scripture about salvation. Then we wouldnít have free will.

I Corinthians 7:13-14 - And a woman who has an unbelieving husband, and he consents to live with her, she must not send her husband away. For the unbelieving husband is sanctified through his wife, and the unbelieving wife is sanctified through her believing husband; for otherwise your children are unclean, but now they are holy.

If we look up the word sanctify, sanctified it means to set apart & make holy, not save. So God sets the unsaved spouse apart & a process has begun. That does not give us an excuse to not witness for fear of the unsaved persons tongue. We have knowledge & are responsible to share with people that we know are not saved.

The bottom line is that if you believe in hell how bad do you have to hate someone to NOT share the truth with them? Think on that a minute & let that sink in.

Time is short & as believers we need to start walking in our authority & being about our Fatherís business boldly proclaiming His Word to set the captives free. We never know at what moment our time will come & things can change in a blink of the eye & we can loose the opportunity to witness to that person we know are hurting & need to hear about salvation. So donít put it off another day, be bold in the Lord & the power of His might. Remember the human conscience is always on your side.
